JoAnn Olsen

BSN, RN, CRNI, CWOCN

JoAnn Olsen, BSN, RN, CRNI, CWOCN (Retired) has devoted more than 50 years to the nursing profession, with extensive expertise in pediatric and specialty care. Her career includes service in pediatric doctors’ offices, pediatric emergency departments, pediatric intensive care, pediatric cardiac care, and neonatal/premature infant nursing. She also served as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, providing advanced care and advocacy for children and families at St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Memphis, TN.

Beyond pediatrics, JoAnn was credentialed as a Certified Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurse and a Certified Intravenous Therapy Nurse, advancing standards of care in highly specialized areas. She is also a published author, contributing an article on Foley catheter care and management to a nursing journal and writing a chapter in a respected nursing textbook.

JoAnn spent over 20 years working with a major medical device company, where she not only provided clinical support to doctors, nurses, and families, but also contributed to the development of a continence care product and a dialysis-related product. These contributions reflect her ability to bridge bedside nursing expertise with medical innovation to improve patient outcomes.

JoAnn also served as a member of the Newton County Board of Health for 3 years and was recognized for trusted leadership, governance, and her commitment to representing diverse community needs.

Since retirement, JoAnn continues to share her knowledge by teaching and mentoring at her local church. She enjoys traveling, reading, attending senior fitness classes, and spending time with her beloved 9-year-old Yorkie, Molly.
